Profile

The Social Science Research Institute is an academic research institute under the auspices of the University of Iceland. It specialises in research, consultancy and evaluation projects relating to the subjects of social sciences. The Institute works closely with the academics of the university, other research institutes within and outside the university and is moreover engaged in research and consulting in private and public sector at the national and international level. The Institute’s clients include: • The Icelandic government and local councils • Large and small businesses • Unions and voluntary organizations • Independent scholars The Institute was established in 1986 and currently has 11 permanent staff members of various backgrounds and expertise such as methodology, sociology, psychology, political sciences, business administration and work science. Furthermore, we teach at the University of Iceland within our field of study. We run a probability based internet panel and conduct all telephone and face-to-face interviews with our own trained interviewers.
