Research and Innovation Observatory (RIO)
TMA are the Irish country correspondents for the EU’s Research and Innovation Observatory (RIO). Funded by DG Research, the RIO project is a key source of information for EU and national policy-makers in the field of research and innovation (R&I) policy.
As RIO country correspondent for Ireland, Tom Martin provides analysis, insights and data on Irish research and innovation policies. Tom is currently finalising the 2017 RIO Country Report for Ireland which in addition to reviewing policies to encourage R&I within the enterprise, higher education and government research sectors also includes analysis of public sector and civil society innovation.
The RIO web site is a valuable source of information on research and innovation policies not only for EU Member States but also for selected countries associated with the EU’s framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020, such as Switzerland, the US and China. ENSR member organisations can use the RIO web site to benchmark their country’s R&I performance against other EU countries.
