The main client of the ENSR is the European Commission. Since the set-up of the SME Task Force (the predecessor of DG XXIII and DG Enterprise & Industry), the Network has been involved in studies that are used as input for the European policymaking process. Especially the execution of the ‘Observatory of European SMEs’ project has put the ENSR in the centre of the European business policy scene.
Examples of other clients include the Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion DG and DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission, the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Dublin, Cedefop and national governments like the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Total turnover of research projects carried out since the ENSR was established amount to more than € 42 million.
